I spoke too soon!
I did the two commands you suggested, but the apt-get must have installed the
standard v39 from the toutatis repository again. Which crashed. I should have
realised it was still the wrong version since there was hardly any download
time..
I then went into Synaptic and
Is there a version for those of us on Trisquel 6?
Exact same issue for me after v 39 upgrade, on my GlugGlug X60 laptop.
Immediate crash. I've had to install the only other version in the repo,
which was version 19!
Ok. I will see how building it goes. Thanks for the help.
Yeah seems like it works now once I added the launch pad repo using: sudo
add-apt-repository ppa:rabbitvcs/ppa as per the RabbitVcs ubuntu installation
instructions. I had originally skipped that part as I was affraid of breaking
something. Thank you for the help all is good now.
I had the same problem so I uninstalled gimp and then reinstalled it through
the terminal. That seems to have fixed the problem for me, perhaps it will
work for you?
Yeah, I followed the directions on the RabbitVcs site:
http://wiki.rabbitvcs.org/wiki/install/ubuntu. The only thing I did not do
was link the launchpad PPA since I figured pulling from the trisquel repo
would be safer.
Hi. Has anyone had any luck installing RabbitVCS on Trisquel 6.0? I pulled it
down from the repo using apt-get install, but it isn't showing in the
Nautillus pop up menu? Any ideas?

I want to help you because you are here posting and asking for help. At bear
minimum I know you are concerned with Free software principals and are

Thank you Chris for all your words and also having the Think Penguin company.
Your efforts are appreciated. I will make another donation this month.
where is the samba restart file? While reading through a few online resources
that talk about restarting samba on Ubuntu/Debian based systems they say to
type in:
/etc/init.d/samba restart
The file does not seem to be there. Help please.
Sorry if this was posted in the wrong forum.
Thank you. On a side note, any reason why Trisquel 6.0 is still using Gimp
2.6 instead of 2.8?
I am new to a lot of Trisquel stuff as of about 2 years ago. I never really
involved too much in the setup or distro of the software as it suits my needs
on a personal level. However, I am trying to move using Trisquel on a more
professional level for a start up company and there are some
I understand what you are saying, unfortunately most of my friends and family
do not. As I have given them partially working installations of Trisquel due
to lack of free drivers, only to have them ask me to re-install Windows.
Which having them switch back to Windows does not solve the
Most here may not agree with my response but I would suggest, for someone who
is new to the GNU Linux environment, to get them a distro that will give them
the least problems when it comes to compatibility with hardware. I did this
with my friends and family as I gave them Ubuntu
I thinks it may be a trend that is starting to develop. Projects seem to be
changing over to MIT and BSD type licenses. Someone please correct me if I am
wrong, but from my understanding of different licenses, MIT and BSD type
licenses do not ensure that a person does not lock up the
Well I just purchased a graphics card from Think Penguin (Thanks for making
this kind of completely free hardware available) and was thinking about doing
the member option but cancelled as it did not allow me to input an amount. I
hope that there will be a way to resolve this membership
Thanks for the info. I plan on becoming a member this Friday once I get my
paycheck for the week. Also if I use the method you added will that make me a
member or just send a donation?
I've wanted to become a member for a while as I am in full support of what
Trisquel is and what it represents. I've been donating money when I can and
tried to become a member twice. The problem I had was to become a member I
had to go through the Paypal system and I no longer have an
