Thank you loldier and thank you Banana.
SMART Data & Self-Tests say the disk is OK. I am finally going for a
reinstall, as I don't have a proper backup of the home folder.
Thanks again for the good explanations!
While waiting for answers on my previous questions, I'm adding some more...
What is the default panel layout on Trisquel 8? Is it Redmond? How do I set
the default panel layout back if I changed it?
Forget my last message, sudo xfs_repair /dev/sda5 did work from a live
system, but unsuccessfully:
Sorry,

home is not mounted, but xfs_repair says it cannot open /dev/sda5: Device or
resource busy.
Shall I go for # xfs_repair -L /dev/sdaX ?
By the way, I am quickly reading now this XFS is a 64-bit thing, while my
computer and Trisquel are 32-bit.
Maybe I read too quickly...
Thank you!
I got no result by entering # mount | grep home
Please have a look at my new image attached. home does not seem to be
mounted. Sould I execute the following? # xfs_repair /dev/sda5
Hi,
Unfortunately https://trisquel.info/en/forum/certificate-patrol topic was
closed.
I cannot find the Certificate Patrol add-on from the "Search addons" box
within Icecat or Abrowser.
If I try to download it from

Their servers do not run free software. You cannot run a Telegram server.
I would not recommend it.
Same here. I still cannot search or install new Add-ons.
Regarding the plug-in workaround, I have not found any "Verify if plugins are
updated" to click on. I tried similar things, but they did not solve
anything.
Thank you. I tried with the commands you suggested and I got again

I need some help, I am a beginner with these things.
I had my ssh working. Then I tried to follow the link

How do you do those nice yellow boxes when you want to show commands in a

I did it once but cannot remember.

Oh! My Lightning extension (an integrated calendar for Icedove) does not work

Let's wait for the resolution of the ticket

Hi,
I would like to access a Trisquel server through SSH. The server's disk is
encrypted. So, if a reboot is needed, it will ask for the key to decrypt the
disk before I can access it through SSH.
According to the following link, it can be solved.
I used to search and install Add-ons. But now, when I try to search for an
Add-on, or do any other thing within the "Get Add-ons" tab, the page kind of
crashes and suddenly only shows me a banner reading "What are Add-ons?
Add-ons are applications that..."
So I cannot search or install
How can I privately read feeds?
Can Liferea be configured so that it connects through Tor?
Thank you Adfeno, Sasaki, fbit and everyone!
I have not been able to send emails from my Openmailbox and RiseUp accounts
for months. But now I have downgraded Icedove with
sudo apt-get install icedove=31.8.0-1~deb7u1+7.0trisquel2
and it works!
I hope the ticket Mzee opened gets solved so
How should we configure Liferea in Trisquel so that it connects through Tor?
And does anyone know anyone who ever met a currently active Retroshare
developer?
It would be nice to know they do not belong to the dark side of the Force.
Hello,
Has anyone there tried Retroshare?
What do you think of it?
I am thinking of trying it, but wanted to ask first.
I cannot install the Certificate Patrol add-on. I tried with ABrowser and
Icecat in two computers.
Is it only me?
Is anyone using it?
On the modem. Probably you will prefer to do everything with your LibreCMC,
NAT included, so maybe you want to check if you can disable NAT in your
current modem-router. Double NAT might be problematic. You may want to buy a
cheap one-port modem and get rid of your current modem-router.
Or
Thank you lembas. I wanted to test them, they together looked a very good
security solution. But now I see they're not.
Hi,
I encrypted a USB drive, I stored some files in it, I removed it. Then I
plugged it in and it asked me for the passphrase to unlock it, but the
keyboard does not work in the box where I have to enter the passphrase. It
does work everywhere else.
I can write the passphrase in the text
Hello,
Quebes and Whonix do not appear at

Neither does Debian but, as far as I know, you can easily run Debian with

I would like to know if I could easily try Quebes + Whonix

How do I tell the Forum admins to delete this topic?
Thank you for the explanations and for the link. Much clearer now.
I have just found this other topic very useful too:

Hi,
I was about to post this in this thread:

But, as I don't have an opinion, but a basic help request, I opened a new
topic.
The thing is that I still don't know how the software installation works. I

Hi,
Does anyone know Twister? http://twister.net.co/
It looks good to me, but I haven't found it in the Trisquel repository. So,
before installing it, I wanted to ask what your opinion is.
If it is free software, it'd be nice to find it in the repository.
Thanks
Any recommendation for any Spotify-like service?
What about Atraci? I've been told it's open source. Is it free software? I
have not seen it in the Trisquel repo.
Thank you Lembas and all. I'm done with it. I'm more than satisfied with what
I have now, and don't have much time to play further with this, especially
when I have so many other technical problems!
Cheers
Uh, I got lost again...
What is a xev command?
What is a keysym?
What is xbindkeys?
Done! It works!
Well, it didn't work with the actual key combination from which my laptop is
supposed to control the brightness -I guess that might also be the cause of
the original problem. But it does work with other key combination.
My laptop is suposed to use Fn+Right to increase
It does work. Now I do not know whether I did it right or wrong first time I
tried, but the thing is it does work.
I mean I do
sudo chown jane:jane /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness
And then
echo 500 /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness
and it works ok
So then I
Great! Everything worked. Even after a restart. Thank you.
I did different keyboard shortcuts for different values, so it's quite handy
now. But if you feel like posting how to do the last thing you suggested, I
will give it a go for sure.
Thanks a lot lembas.
It works, now I can use the echo command without sudo to change the
brightness. But I did not manage to configure the shortcuts for the keyboard.
When adding a new shortcut (through System Settings Keyboard) I can enter
the name and the command, but don't know how to
Oh,no! I'm wrong. I said it worked, but I was trying with sudo! Sorry.
And now I am stack.
I don't think I'm doing correctly this part:
sudo chown $(whoami):$(whoami)
/sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness
Should it be
sudo chown jane:jane
Hey, it works! The brightness changes with that number!
By the way, what is that tee thing?
And, is there an easy way to bind it to a key combination? I think lembas
commented so, but don't understand how to do it. Just in case it's easy...
I'm already happy that it works!
Thank you all.

Hi,
I have the same problem. Since I installed Trisquel on my laptop the
brightness is always high. I try to change it and see the icon responds but
not the brightness, it always stays high. I'm a beginner with GNU+Linux so I
have not really understood the technical explanations.

Thank you very much lembas.
Thank you,
And, is there any way to install it?
I think I read somewhere that some Tunderbird add-ons may not be free
software, that is whay I wanted to go for Icedove.
Hi,
I'm new, and a big ignorant on GNU/Linux, so please take it into account for
your explanations.
I would like to install Icedove, but don't know how. Could anyone please
explain step by step? Thank you very much in advance!
I tried to install it, but after entering 'sudo apt-get
Did it! The download worked now and could followed libredrs recommendations.
Thank you all!
Thank you all, very much. Clear explanations. Haven't had time yet to give it

There is a thread named Prolems with the TOR Browser where the same problem
