I have a problem with left Alt key.
It seems when I press it, it highlights shortcut keys in the current program
instead of serving me as keycode inducer
Therefore I can't use alt keycode characters (like ąęćśż). They work
with right Alt only.

I figured it out - it's so called "3rd level chooser key", and it's available
as you said - under Keyboard-> Layouts -> Options... -> Key to choose 3rd
level
and set it to left ALT
