Hi everybody,
I've just discovered that my problem is caused by the field type in MySQL:
if I set it to integer (unsigned, but I do not know if this is mandatory),
ALL of the solutions you suggested work.
They do not work on timestamp and datetime fields, instead.
So the problem is solved.

I would like to use system hook to do some actions while updating some
records. I will use tt_news as a example.
