There was a proposal before 10.0 came out to use a terminating underscore
character in UniVerse BASIC (just like in the command and paragraph parsers) to
represent "line continues". It would appear that nothing came of it.

My first guesses would be that either the file is corrupt or that it was
being resized and the resize was aborted. I'd suggest running uvfixfile
against the file (or FAST if you are using it.)
