I'm not sure what you need but here is a sample of reading a MV and
writing either a new record or an additional MV.
This is a VB6 example for UniData

Has anyone ever seen the error nanosleep: Interrupted system call ?
I had a process running that was creating a flat file of inventory history.
The process seemed to be hanging on a READ. I issued a PORT.STATUS against the

No problem - just drop me note on what you are looking for. I know how I did
it - but nowadays I may do it differently (depends on what you want to
achieve).

Scott,
There are some HP-specific tuning parameters in UV10.x - 'SPINTRIES' and
'SPINSLEEP'.
Maybe these need to be set up somehow?

Thanks for the response Mike.
I just found this while looking through the product matrix notes.

and a different UniVerse process was executing the PORT.STATUS command, the
process selecting the file may have received

All,
I need to move tons of stuff from UniVision to UniVerse PE, for
development and testing. I'm looking for something better than an
endless series of T-DUMPs. Any opinions?

I have some free tools that I use for moving software and data from
system to system. They're originally intended for versioning but they
might suit the need nicely. Let me know and I'll send them along.

Curt,
Thank you for telling us. I only ever met him by phone, but I recall
him fondly. What a wretched turn of events. He will be missed.

Hi Kevin,
I would like to know what tools you use. Could you pass the info along
to me, also?
TIA,

I would agree with it except for two things:
I do believe that people will get attached to complex systems -- but I
don't believe that the majority of people will be completely unwilling
to apply other systems in new situations. The article makes it sound
as if most readers will fall on one
JayJay,
Thanks for responding.

external/real-time events as the highest priority interrupt. The
events are in real-time as well as random, and the event triggers a
response which must also happen
This debate over MV or relational tends to get so dang academic at
times that I think all parties miss the fundamental simplicity of
database technology. I think there's a lot to be said for looking at
a database like a refrigerator. Stuff goes in, stuff comes out, and
if stuff stays in too long
Hi Charles,
I've done this recently from Univision on SCO unix to Universe on RedHat
Linux 9.0, and it's very easy to process one account at a time:
. SAVE to a virtual tape
. ftp to the new server
. Run a program D3RESTORE (what a giveaway) from IBM to convert to Universe
format
