I think it's the clear statement being after the open file statement!
So F.item is no longer assigned.

This is exactly how we have handled new servers in the past.

Does anyone know how to create a UV file pointer on a Windows machine to
a mapped drive? For example, I have a file V:\temp\THIS.FILE that I
want to point to and V is mapped to another server.
Thanks!

I've done just this on Universe and it works great! I've also added to
EDIT.LIST and DELETE.LIST so I can track those also.

Did anyone attend the Spectrum conference? I'd love to hear about it.
I was also wondering about the outcome of this year's Database Challenge.
Thanks!

Hello wise ones! It has always been my assumption that Universe on
Windows can only deal with printers which are mounted locally. Is there
a way to spool to printers on a separate printer server, other than
mounting each one locally on the uv server?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Yes, it is pretty annoying, isn't it?

I once wrote a "wraparound" to the savelist commands which datestamps
the lists on creation and use. Also allows the user to flag a savelist
as one that should not be overwritten or deleted. A purge program
allows them to purge out savelists that are no longer necessary or
haven't been access
You'll need to use CREATE.FILE in Universe, but create either a type 1
or type 19 file - that will make it a folder.

Something in the far reaches of my mind tells me that you need to do
something like use a left paren instead of a bracket, like

Can't try it right now to verify, though, sorry!
