any interest in supporting
it, and believe that you should have upgraded to more modern technology
already?

jak,
perhaps you need a better master var.
Lester,
one thing I would ask though is
why the Knowledgebase portion of techconnect is protected,
is there some reason that ordinary website users can't look up old info ?

Harold,
A standard HP laser understands PCL printer language. It's
a fairly large set of commands but you should be able to pick up
what you need from this quick reference guide (I'm sure there are
a million other PCL quides around , but this one is fairly straightforward)
Glen,
The UV socket server interface works the same in Unix and Windows, I
have server programs running in both environments with no changes.

is this universe ? try putting ASSIGN 1 to SYSTEM(1017)
immediately before the write , this tells universe not to convert the record
when
writing. there is a comparable statement in Unidata but I don't recall it.

Have you looked into the Universe socket interface ?
We use it to serve small web applications directly from Universe,
this way it doesn't have to use a license or go through logging
into uv or anything. Works very well.

You can use the Universe READLIST statement
to read active select lists into a dynamic array.

Scott,
you can replace a value mark or sub value mark by using
^253 and ^252 respectively , for example R/^253// will replace the first
value mark with null.
There is always the UniDebugger.

I have found Universe upgrades to be extremely clean.
We upgrade our customers on a consistent basis and I've never
had a real problem because of it. Now application upgrades
those can be a little dicier ;)

I'm afraid it means he needs to upgrade.
There were many problems with the early versions of
port.status.

Jay,
try using uvbackup and uvrestore to move the files, it handles the
conversions itself, it usually works like a charm.
if they are on very different universe releases you may need to back them up
using the
release options (check the doc on the release options for uvbackup, it's
fairly clear)
Jay,
I forgot to mention , you do need to fnuxi the actual uvbackup compressed
file
before moving it to the windows machine and unpacking it
