I've take a look at this backport, but it requires some work.
First of all I'd have to remove comments present in debian\control, because
pbuilder present on Hardy seems not to understand comments starting whit "#".
There are also some unmet dependencies:
libflexdock-java,libjogl-java,libjrosetta
If someone wants to test tomcat 6.0.18-0ubuntu6 I've updated the diff
made by Michael and uploaded it to my ppa...seems to work fine on Hardy

2.48 a fails to build with prevu, because it doesn't find some
libavformat include like "libavformat/avformat.h".. in fact in the
intrepid version of libavformat-dev the includes are in
"ffmpeg/avformat.h". I think we can't backport libavformat-dev because
some packages depend on it...
