On an Asus K40IJ , I can't adjust the brightness with fn keys. Have to
do that using sudo setpci -s 00:02.0 F4.B=xx command. Using Ubuntu
11.10 32 bit.
Anyway to get the brightness control functioning properly?

I'm using ubuntu 11.10 on Asus - K40IJ . I guess the problem has been
discussed several times but I failed to come up with a solution.
The problem is pretty common. I'm hearing sound from both mic and laptop
speaker. Any solution?

Du meter from hagel does a splendid job of showing the bandwidth usage
by graph, notes, charts and what not. I was wondering if something of
that sort is available for linux too.

Anyway, KDE is bloated too these days. IMO 3.5 of KDE was better than 4.7. Who
