I tried out Edge Eft (6.10) -- both cd and dvd (downloaded from
ubuntu.com) and both booted and worked (on HP Pavilion laptop as
described above) like champs. booted properly (from power down) first
time, every time.
fwiw, tried out dapper drake (both the original and the -1 versions)
on cd

I am happy to plead Mea Culpa any day as I may not know how I have caused the
problem and I understand that you reject the report of the bug.
From my perspective I have only used Synaptic Package Manager and have
not been experimenting with any packages I might get on the

This was a problem in libnotify, which came with Dapper. This apparently isn't
a problem in libnotify1 which is in Edgy. Edgy's version is better:

Two quick comments: 1) the attached diff doesn't have the necessary ` ,
so INTERFACES won't get set properly, but more importantly,
2) INTERFACES is set in exactly this way in /etc/acpi/suspend.d/55-down-
interfaces.sh
All scripts in suspend.d should be being called on the way down; if they
are
it is quite strange... the black line at the border is sometimes nice
and sometimes dotted and very ugly... I don't really understand why it
changes between different logins!

Taking for retrace.
So far the 2 crashes that i retraced seem to be the same. If it crashes again
while doing the same thing ther eis no need to report it here as we have enough
crash reports to determine what is causing the crash. I will try to have the
report done ASAP.

I need 'ssh -vvv' output with some kind of indication of the point where
it seems to hang for long periods of time.

FYI, I also ran tail -f /var/log/acpid.
When I do something like unplug the power adapter, I see plenty of
output. But when I close or open the laptop lid, I don't see any new
output.

I have the same problem, but there is no totem-gstreamer-dbgsym package :
apt-get install totem-gstreamer-dbgsym

XGL was idle for a moment (Firefox running, online mailing service only)
and the screen went in powersave mode. When touching the touchpad, XGL
crashed and returned to the GDM welcome screen.

I'm using a separate /home partition as well and the installer freezes
on the detection step, i had to kill it from terminal.
