Just following up on this bug.
Can you give specific steps to reproduce this bug? What version of KDE are you
using? Also, what version of Flash?
Given the link you gave above (presuming I just need to click on that
link to reproduce the crash), I can't reproduce this bug on Kubuntu Edgy
6.10
I just read in the status that this bus is fixedehm well it isn't.
As a wrote before, the soundc. is set as default-card, but it still doesn't
behave like it should.

That's a wxwidgets 2.8 problem.
When VLC 0.8.6 was released wxwidgets 2.8 was not out or has just been for a
while, so VLC's interface has been coded with 2.6 in mind. ( to be honest i'm
surprised it even compiled with 2.8)

On trying to remove beagle the other day I was prompted
to do dpkg --configure -a which brought up a lot of Python related
stuff. I haven't had another crash since then.

When you build it you get the problem but using the distribution version
that's fine then? Are you using the panel menu or gnome-main-menu? Does
setting the /apps/panel/global/upstream_session gconf key fixes your

Does reinstalling python-gnome2 makes a difference? Do you have things
installed to /usr/local that could take over the distribution version?
You are the only one to complain about that so the bug is probably on
your installation

cupsys in feisty doesn't put any backends into /usr/lib/cups/backend/
