The latest kernel update (2.6.20-14-generic) hangs on boot about 3% in

Same here. After update a few minutes ago I can no longer boot.
Western Digital sata disk. jkuhnert, could you elaborate on how you got
back to a bootable state. I'm forced to boot XP at the moment.

I just updated on Feisty to kernel 2.6.20-14 and when I try to reboot (with
-quiet removed from the grub config) I get the following:

I played around a bit with the size values and did a reboot after that.
After that, i saw a red X between application tabs and the desktop

I am beginning to think that the problem is cause by the splashscreen inserted
by (K)ubuntu
when turning off the computer.
Ending X session works normally (as opposed to what I reported above)
The problem occurs when (K)ubuntu tries to show a splash screen.
Booting with option nosplash solves the

Sam is listed as maintainer as he is one of the the Debian maintainers.
He (and) Ross have nothing to do with Ubuntu, except that they are doing
a really great job in Debian and are very responsive to bugs in Ubuntu
too, which means that we don't have to divert the package from the
Debian version.

I guess it could be the 9.0 flash version I have but I haven't been able to
reproduce this bug in Firefox although it uses
