Note that if the printer was turned on only after booting that then the
printer model cannot be auto-detected by most printer setup tools, as
the real printer auto-detection happens when the kernel modules are
loaded. Only printerdrake reloads the kernel modules when starting its

Seems to be a problem of memory management in Ghostscript. Memory
handling is improved in the newest Ghostscript. So try to switch to GPL

Hi,
I spent my weekend trying to get 7.04 liveCD of Ubuntu, kubuntu installed on
my SAMSUNG X10 (Laptop) and it was a catastrophic failure. And this with the
official CDs. It is interesting to note that I can reinstall Ubuntu 6.10 from
the LiveCD without any problem. I don't know how to help
I would like to chech this deeper.

My printer, a USB Brother HL-1430 (HL-1450 driver) refuses to print documents
(Open Office) after it has successfully printed 1 or 2 documents a few hours
before. Afaik the printer worked fine before Feisty.

Work Around:
1. Open the Desktop Effects window
2. Enable Desktop on a Cube
3. Right Click on the Switcher
4. Left Click on preferences
5. Change the Number of Workspaces to 4
6. Close the Desktop Effects window
Problem Solved until the next time you open the Desktop Effects window.

I analyze dpkg.log and remebered ( logs can save many black hair at our heads
:) what packages were updated by apt-get upgrade yesterday (2007-05-08
09:59:25 gmt -4) with feisty-proposed packages.

I do also get the white screen with this fix, however being that mine is
a personal home desktop I don't have screensaver passwords turned on so
I hadn't really noticed it that much. I just move the mouse and the
white screen goes away and is replaced by the new user's desktop. The
