I have the same video card with the same problem :(
I wanted to try Ubuntu 7.10 on my wife's laptop. After gnome starts the
mouse pointer appears for 1-2 seconds, and after the screen goes black.
Neither Ctrl+Alt+F1 works nor X-Org restart help. When I enter
Ctrl+Alt+Del I hear a Beep from the
Ubuntu Hardy Heron (8.04), the next version of Ubuntu, is in feature
freeze. So ksquirrel will go into Ubuntu 8.10 as soon as it's
developmented is kicked off.

This is interesting. On my installation of an up-to-date hardy alpha 5 this
works just fine (see screenshot attached). I tried this with the English
Wikipedia search and FF3beta3.
And you have to wait a few seconds until the suggestions show up. It is not as

I've been having this problem until today, when I changed my password on
the last.fm site and in rhythmbox's preferences. Now, both the radio and
the scrobble submissions are working. I haven't restarted yet -- I'll

When opening the preferences the first time (=after firefox started) and then
cycle through the different categories quite fast, so that I select another
category before the current one had a chance to load, the bug occurs.

My microphone works on windows, but doesn´t on linux.
My sound is ok on linux, only microphone has problems.

Here is the proper fix, against EDS.
Created a new helper function (_camel_header_param_format_append) to
handle the processing of MIME field parameters, and altered the main
function (camel_header_param_list_format_append) to use the new helper
and defer processing of the name= MIME field until

I guess you had no luck in getting a freeze exception? I like this

Maybe I don't understand the nature of your cheesy work around, but as I
said in previous post, the Glipper program already works just fine
in/under Gutsy just does not behave correctly under Hardy Alpha 5 or any
of the previous versions of Hardy.
