I just installed natty on this box - a freshly installation keeps X
running (with/without nvidia-proprietary modules).
The bug seems to be related to the update process. Because my
(important) work machine runs with nvidia as well I do fear that it's
left dead when I update to natty.
Anyone
@cpatrick08: I believe there is no fix for this issue yet. Not even the
mainline kernel is fixed yet since the issue seems to be pretty hard to
track down.

Could you check to see if there is a new BIOS update from your hardware
vendor? In the past we have seen issues like tis resolved by updating the BIOS.
