I have similar issue with the sound menu. Some people consider it
appropriate for a click on a player title to bring that player to your
current desktop. While others like above think is should stay where you
are.

were referring to as I have noticed the speaker port to be muted at

The problem here it seems is that for some reason my pulse context or
the sink info pointer is null. What is really odd here is that this
piece of code has not been touched for a year. I'm not sure if its a
pulse problem or the sound service. I have had a few of these crashes

could be that the driver is reporting the incorrect volume stepping
which could be the reason for your problem.

I tried to reproduce this and I couldn't. Release 0.5.9 (which will be
released this Thursday) has a completely refactored pulse backend.
Please try with this new release and let me know if you can reproduce
this.

Okay this should be fixed in the last release, so as if the pulse server
has gone down then the controls (mute and volume) should be disabled.
This will ensure the pulsecontext is not null. At least the indicator
will not crash but it does not solve the problem as to why the pulse
server is going

Thanks for reporting this.
Sounds like Miro is stealing focus from rhythmbox which would make sense
considering rhythmbox is hidden. Although miro is minimized also so it should
not be doing this.

like a window manager
