I worked around the problem by draining the battery, as described in
more than one post above. This was many months ago, and since then I've
not had the problem again.

I haven't kept accurate enough logs. I switched router at roughly the same
time as a dist-upgrade.
The blog post which led me to fix this problem is dated 2012.
It might be a while before I get around to trying the kernel but will

Do you happen to have cgroup-bin installed on your system?
If you do, try removing it and install cgroup-lite instead.
cgroup-bin has known race conditions
Suspend *works* on a clean oneiric beta 1 boot on this laptop.
I also tried running 'sudo pm-suspend' with lightdm killed and no X apps
running. The same bug occurred. The output of the second, failing pm-
suspend was the same as the first, successful one.

On a hunch, I uninstalled rabbitmq-server and tried to restart. It
succeeded. Does that mean the bug is here (and thus that indicator-
session needs to be better at filtering?) or that it's in rabbitmq-
server?

1. Hit Alt-F2
2. Type 'gnome-terminal' and hit Enter
3. Wait

The dash still stays up. No icons or suggestions for how to complete
