In my case it didn't help to remove any of the files or folders inside
of ~/.local/share/desktop-applet or all of them. The only thing that
helped was to remove the whole folder. Really strange...

I can confirm this. I've Jaunty since Alpha3 and removing ~/.local/share

any more. Maybe someone else still using intrepid can report about this
bug.

Public bug reported:
I'm testing Ubuntu Jaunty Alpha3 x64 on a machine with an Audigy 2 ZS
sound card. The sound is cracking and scratching. It doesn't depend on
whether Alsa or PulseAudio is selected as sound server. If trying to
plug the audio connector into another out during running Rhythmbox

I have a hint about this issue. gnome-system-monitor is crashing only
when opening as user the Filesystems tab. Change the following key in
gconf and you'll be able to use at least the other tabs:
/apps/procman/current_tab. It is set to 3 per default (the Filesystems
tab). Change it to some value
edit: It seems really to be something related to ext3 because (as I now
realize :D ) the crash appears on the machine with an ext3 /home and two
other partitions in ext3 whereas on another machine with /home and / in
reiserfs and another partition in ntfs it doesn't appear!

The problem still appears on Jaunty (alpha3), the fix solves it. Please
fix it till beta!

Everything perfect now with the new driver. Btw, maybe you should
mention that the driver package is avaible in the backports only. :)

I've found the second link, too, and wondered what happened, but I
couldn't find anything about the new driver in Synaptics and activating
the backports was the only thing to solve the problem. But, however, the
driver is installable on one or another way and the bug is gone now. :)

I've installed Intrepid on two machines both from the Live-CD. On one
machine I experience the bug, on the other one not.

Many users in the ubuntuusers.de forums have the same problem with the
Russian language: http://forum.ubuntuusers.de/topic/179498/ or
http://forum.ubuntuusers.de/topic/170381/ The problem is that the config
tool of the keyboard indicator applet is started by a user and can't
modify the xorg.conf.
Are there any news on the bug? It still happens, now with pidgin-
libnotify 1.3. It's also independent on the window-manager and occurs
under both Metacity and Compiz Fusion.
