I can't reproduce this in 11.10. I tried opening .mp3 and .ogg files;
they open in the default music player (Banshee). I tested several video
files as well (.mov, .mp4, .avi, .wmv) and they correctly open in totem.

ath9k disassociates when scanning
To
Using the instructions in the FilingBugs page, I'm unable to get unity
to start. When I run 'unity --advanced-debug' from tty1, it crashes in
the nvidia driver before I have a chance to switch back to tty7. See
attached unity.log for the backtrace. Is this a separate issue that
warrants a new bug,
