I installed Ubuntu 9.10 with a USB disk and everything went fine until I tried
to use a CD or DVD. The problem is that I insert the DVD or CD and the driver
makes the normal noise and seems that is going to mount the CD/DVD, but after a
few seconds the CD/DVD drive stops

For my notebook, this problem is fixed in Ubuntu 9.10.

Thanks for the help. but for me this wireless thing doesn't work and I already
tried everything that involves acpi=force, apm=off, rmmod snd_hda_intel,
edit halt and insert the command ifconfig wlan0 down, etc.
Even if I install the ubuntu server without any extra package I have this
