I have AMD Sempron K8 (64bit), ATI RV350 AR [Radeon 9600]. With Ubuntu
11.04 x64, Torcs is frozen immediately after launch with no visible
error or warning, after the output text Compatibility mode, properties
unknown.
After this, system monitor stops, VGA switches off, monitor goes
standby. Only

Trying again with Hardy, the textual chaos displays in graphical mode
everytime I start, either with monitor plugged in or not. Fn-F4 does

couldn't run it using Ubuntu's JRE, I must use binary Java installation
from Sun, in which the LBE runs.
I see this problem using the recent jre1.6.0_07 from Sun. Using

Starting from CD, Ubuntu Hardy 8.04b is even worse. The video is not

With propietary nvidia driver, the Fn-F4 dosen't really do anything.
However, if the external monitor is plugged in during startup, the
laptop starts in external-only mode, while is external is not plugged
during startup, it starts with internal-only.

as of the language, the video is quite useless by the means of presentation (if
only I wouldn't wish to torped out the presented thing ;-)
so I assume the term crappy is technically allright, however if someone finds
it offending, I don't object the changes.
As of information, it is Compaq
I have Intel 945 on ntb. And TNT2 on Debian Etch I have mentioned.
So it isn't matter of ATI.

I create a presentation using Impress. I use some effects on every
slide, mostly some simple text rolling and so.
During presentation mode, the performance slows down after every effect
taken. After some 20 effects on Athlon3800+
This bug makes Impress quite useless in presentation mode.

I do have nvram group there. I got nvram:x:105: when on network. This
line is also in /etc/group
As of my ldap.conf, nothing particulary interesting goes there. I just
set upd the lines: host, base, uri, nss_base_passwd, nss_base_group,
nss_base_shadow. Commented out rootbinddn.
