Investigating led me to look at the contents of /etc/pcmcia - it was an
empty directory. I rebooted the CD

I have 3rd gen Ipod with firewire and final release of dapper updated
from breezy. The Ipod only mounts once per boot. It can be found in
system>admin>disks and can be mounted to a directory from there for
subsequent remount attempts, but still doesn't show in "Places" and
can't be unmounted. gt
The error has changed since moving to Dapper. Now when I insert a dvd
the following error occurs:

openoffice in edgy wont launch. none of the apps for openoffice.org
launch. trying to open from menus i never even get a start dialog and
launching in terminal i get

Further testing has revealed that we need to set the additional
parameters documented above. I'll make the changes to Edgy's alsa-utils
(asoundconf) source package shortly.
I'm also reassigning this bug report against the correct source package
(alsa-utils instead of alsa-lib).

No. The problem was there for some time but I neglected it. It's just
recently that I got irritated.
Now that you mention it, I'm not sure I tried to reboot. I deleted
.mozilla directory several times, but I could forget about trying out
a reboot (it is a browser upgrade after all - why should it
