OK, I'm a dumbass..
I debugged this with wireshark, and what messed me up was the /etc/resolv.conf.
Apparently my router assigned me a search domain that caused this bug..
Please close this bug report as not a bug.

testing dapper -> edgy dist upgrade from command line (apt-get update &&
apt-get dist-upgrade), apt holds back packages that should be indeed
installed:
The following packages have been kept back:
hpijs python-adns python-clientcookie python-crypto python-htmlg
This is because V4L1 support is unchecked. To compile the ttpci driver
when compiling the kernel, this needs to be checked for some reason. I
have the same issue with my WinTV Nova-T

I've noticed what John said too. Whenever I run KDE by using startx,
the only options I get from K Menu->Log Out is End Current Session,
which just takes me back to the command line.
Having shutdown and restart options regardless of how KDE was started
would be beneficial to the power user as wel
