Thanks! If I add these images to digikam with the earlier imlib2, and
then view them with the new imlib2, I see the reported behavior. What's
strange is that "feh" has no problem with them. I will investigate.

I installed Stellarium from a deb. It commited that it was a later
package. I continued with the install. It was error on dpkg. The package
broken. Used synatic to reinsall the broken package. Things went well
from there. Found Stellarium under app.> other. It crashed on startup. I
have AMD k7 w/1.

modify this file:
1. /etc/acpi/voldownbtn.sh
2. /etc/acpi/volupbtn.sh
3. /etc/acpi/mutebtn.sh
adding this lines at the end of files:
1. /usr/bin/amixer set Front 4-
2. /usr/bin/amixer set Front 4+
3. /usr/bin/amixer set Front toggle

Attached is dmesg from the live CD for Xubuntu Dapper release. It does
not detect the ethernet card which is an old 3COM 3c509 ISA. Damn Small
Linux (DSL) worked out of the box with a 2.4 kernel, see the second
