Yet, syslog reporting is not working, because ntpdate-debian checks the
settings in /etc/default/ntpdate and acts accordingly. ntpdate should
log into /var/log/daemon.log (being exec'd as part the the init/upstart

I'm affected with the same problem. The option "anon_umask" is broken.
Changing anon_umask to gives all files uploaded by anonymous a 0666
chmod, when anon_umask=020 gives 0600.

Build process seems to alter the file alright, thanks for noticing. This is bit
gray area to me.. should unversioned python be used or apply substitution
trickery for current python version (as in new Debian python policy) in
debian/rules ?

This is supposed to happen.
Either your $HOME/.bashrc or /etc/bash.bashrc on your Ubuntu box is
sourcing /etc/bash_completion. Comment that out and bash completion
functions will not be loaded.

I have added gv, kdebase (preview of KDE Print), and kdegraphics
(kghostview) as packages affected by this bug. They all need to require
gs-esp-x to allow screen display of PostScript files.
Please anyone who knows more GhostScript-based PostScript/PDF viewers,
