My problem was with an IMAP server (although I've had it with gmail as
well). I don't think evolution is broken per-se, I think the server was
genuinely (temporarily) rejecting my password for whatever reason but
'cancel' or 'OK' both brought back the dialog after a couple of seconds.

I am closing your bug report based on your latest comment that this
works for you know. Soundcard drivers are usually part of the kernel
and the Intel HDA chipset is somewhat new, so I imagine each distro has
a different kernel version and driver.

the Wifi connection is definitely managed by Knetworkmanager, the Lan
connection I'm not sure, if I select Static Connection it shows both
eth0 (Lan) and eth1 (wifi).

I've just hit this bug following an upgrade from Dapper to Edgy. I'm
seeing exactly the symptoms that Ivan describes in the initial
description. I'm using a dual-head fglrx setup. I'm happy to test/try
things to chase this one... The problem is not specific to the ati
driver, I think.

Could you try to upgrade to 0.5-ubuntu2 (in the repos) and see if this
still happens? I can't reproduce it (with 0.5).

Confirmed. I personally see this happening every so often with gmail.
Hitting OK will bring again the dialog (or pop up a new warning).

The system was booted with the card in. The end of the log shows the
card being removed and re-inserted.

I installed the game successfully and tried to play it.
The game does not go past the loading screen in edgy. It is really frustrating
because this happened in dapper too. The game worked well in suse. At that time
i don't think it used pygam
Replacing the current 80scp-client script in the /etc/X11/Xsession.d/
directory with the following, and adding the new file scp-client-start,
should solve the issue, it has been tested and works. Needs approval
from ogra.
