This is exactly what I am experiencing and the noacpi option did not solve
my problem. I even tried the notsc option, which prevented the laptop from
booting. I'll try clocksource=acpi_pm and see what happens.

I got the same problem with an external USB hard drive on Ubuntu Feisty
7.04.
Most of the time all is OK : mount, copy / moving of files, unmount.
But one time (I never had that on Edgy), on the Nautilus right menu,
instead of "Unmount" command, I had "Eject".

I got usb flash and card reader trouble under fresh install of 7.04. And even
an update to a newer kernel 2.6.21-5 does not help. modprobe -r ehci_hcd gives
no effect for me.

when late into the updating synaptic crashed and I tried to submit a
report and then the notification-daemon crashed.
