I had this exact same problem. After much twiddling, I found a
workaround.
Make sure you have the sync rates set. The key setting for me was Option

Looks like powernowd has two parts. Kernel module(s) and the client
daemon or whatever. If apt-get removal doesn't help you - your problem
is kernel modules. Oops. I have similar case with some of the kernel

If Debian doesn't have it, is there some other way to include it into
Ubuntu? I really feel this would be a killer feature for Gutsy given
that almost all laptops come with Vista and many people might not be
ready to delete the Vista partition before they know Ubuntu works and it
right for them.

Similar thing on Dell Inspiron 9300. After it gets hot enough it stays at full

After installing a fesh Feisty and upgrading with Internet packages (typical
procedure) I wanted to directly upgrade it to Gutsy but when executing :
# update-manager -d
Gutsy is not seen as a target !
Is this a bug ?

Ah, some progress.
If I use X to generate a configuration file ( attached ) then X fires
up.
So a work-around to boot tribe4/tribe5 is :-
1) boot up in single user mode
2) X -config
3) cp /root/xorg.conf.new /etc/X11/xorg.conf
4) init 3

Martin-Éric : i think that we have to discuss more that problem.
I don't think that adding number of job in the name of pdf is too
problematic.
In second time, if we decide to not add job number, it's a problem that
cups-pdf do not overwrite pdf already made. It's a source of problem for
the
Gutsy, zim 0.19
