I've attached the logs that the crash recommended that I include. I
think that the update failed as a whole, as it didn't reboot and instead
just disappeared from the desktop. I'm not sure if this is

Not sure what you mean by the "dispositive" disappearing but I have
managed to get the DVD drive on my Zepto working. I did 2 things, but
I'm not sure if it was one or both of them together that fixed it.
First, I updated the BIOS using the iso I downloaded from

Binary package hint: belocs-locales-bin
install-language-pack gets called in the postinst script for all
language-pack-XX-base, with the locale of that package.
This calls for trouble, if you have multiple languages installed and set
PURGE=yes in /etc/belocs/locale-gen.conf:
the cards are in gnome-games-common/cards not in pixmaps/gnome-games-
common/cards

Noticed the same thing after upgrading my laptop from Feisty to Gutsy.
Feisty worked perfectly, Gutsy has issues.
Apparently the resulting CD is OK. MD5 matches.
It does it with every ISO I try to burn.

I forgot to mention that this can be fixed by setting the panel's
"layer" to Top or below.

I understand what IOWait is. And I get that it isn't busy, but waiting.
But while it is "busy waiting" (har har), those CPU cycles are lost, and
that percentage of the processor is utilized, making the machine slower.
What I'm saying, is that seeing your IOWait is useful. And that with the

The problem here is that sometimes (say 1 out of 5) gnome-launch-box hangs.
Then you can see the 'gnome-launch-box'-box but it doesn't respond on keyboard
input anymore. The only thing that can be done is to kill the process and start
gnome-launch-box again.

I managed to fix my LCD-turns-off issue by editing my DSDT; it turns out that
whoever coded it foolishly used "if LEqual" instead of "if LLessEqual", which
meant that any time an invalid brightness value was passed in, the LCD would
