ardchoille here. I fixed it. I have all tty's working properly now in
Kubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy) with nVidia GeForce 6200 card (and nvidia-glx
installed) on an AMD Sempron 2800+.

No. I don't understand it. The icon file is correctly referenced in
the .desktop file
A workaround is to launch it with the window size and position specified
with the -p option: for example "blender -w -p 0 0 1024 769".

However, this isn't a bug in any Ubuntu package - rather, one of your
configuration files (/etc/apt/sources.list) is not correct, probably as
a result of trying to add a 3rd party repository.
You can regenerate a correct source.l
Which version of openoffice.org was this error from, the exact package
version is most helpful.
