The problem is fixed in Hardy. Actually the channel is still unmuted on
resume, but the sliders stay at the bottom and so there is no more
microphone sound from the speakers, greatly reducing the annoyment.

OK, I've done a bit of testing now. Mounting with "sshfs -s" does seem
to work, I have yet to see any crashes like that. The other don't seem
to help, though; I've tried with all of them together, and I still got
crashes (and it works vry slow), so I'm pretty sure multi-threading
is to blame.
@Kristian: true, DHCP may not be a solution, but you could also set a
static IP, or set up DHCP for one of your little used connections, or
maybe you could create a new connection.
If none of those work, it may be best to create a location profile in
Network Manager, though this would require chan

controler on my M/B (was seen as /dev/hdc) in 2.6.22 kernel from Gutsy.

If I plug in my 250Gig FAT formated USB-Drive from Lacie it get automounted
under Gutsy Gibbon.
But if I plug in my My_Book(NTFS formated) from WD it will not get automounted.
The difference between this two drives is that the

It seems as if the usb-storage module constantly restarts the modem.
Using rmmod to unload the usb-storage module (when the modem is active
and the /dev/ttyUSB0 and /dev/ttyUSB1 devices are present) seems to
