I'm a newbie in Linux and been trying to switch from windows if
everything works fine. So far things are ok until i tried playing some
mpg or other video files. Every second or third time playing a video
file, system will just hangs (blank screen) and recovery is
OK, this last comment from cdaringe on 2008-05-09 fixed my problem -

I am running Ubuntu 8.04 on a Dell XPS M1330. After suspend I have
restart all the networking stuff (rmmod iwl3945, modprobe, and do a
networking restart via a dbus/resume.d/ script. In any case, it re-
establishes the wireless connection just fine but the nm-applet does not
show that it is connect

I'm not using Ubuntu right now. Running Gentoo with kernel 2.6.25 with
processor ACPI compiled in the kernel as well as cpu frequency scaling
and governors and the problem do exists on my setup. Maybe this confirm

That is no problem, because I can replicate this bug anytime I use ctrl-
alt-F1 and then ctrl-alt-F7 again.
I think only /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old got created, /var/log/kern.log.0
has yesterday stamp, only kern.log was created... I'm attaching all them

I am having the same problem on Hardy with pidgin 2.4.1. This might not
be a problem with pidgin since I can't log in using their html client
either (although I am using Firefox). Also, this appears to have
happened to me at the same time this bug was reported. I suspected it
was a round of plugin
I can confirm this, but it also seems to be affecting aMSN, as well as
many web based .NET messaging protocol clients, I believe that Microsoft
may have just implemented a change to the MSN protocol. This is the
horrible thing with proprietary protocols.

substituting the e1000e driver for the e1000 which they think doesn't
have this problem. The e1000e driver comes with the kernel I'm running
(sprite 2.6.24-16-generic) but I can't get it to bind to the ethernet

Does it work if you install the Canadian English dictionary? You can
install it via File->Wizards->Install new dictionaries. I notice that
there are myspell dictionaries for au, gb, us, za but not for Canada, so

This is not fixed in Gutsy. Gutsy still has 9.0.48 and is failing the
md5sums. I just got a bug about Gutsy flash still being 9.0.48 in gutsy
has this not been pushed out of -proposed? bug #231171 is the bug that i
got. I asked for his sources.list file until than i would like this to
stay open inc
This is fixed in Hardy. I don't know if it works in Gutsy now.

receiver dongle.
This H/W used to work fine until I upgraded to Hardy.
Now it simply does not work anymore. Before the upgrade used to work like a

A fresh LTS install with proposed updates enabled, solve this issue on
my system.
I do not have libpam-smbpass installed and my logs are now clear with
"missingok" option.
