When I want to upload a file via network, e.g. a larger mail attachment (about
2 MB and more) through a browser (tried Firefox and Opera) or a mail client
(Thunderbird - on an different mail server), the upload process just stops
after few seconds
I've verified that installing the version of kaffeine currently in
updates, 0.8.6-0ubuntu8.1, does not recommend python-qt4, and that the
version of kaffeine in proposed, 0.8.6-0ubuntu8.1.1, does include it in
recommends. I have not verified that installation of the codec is
successful if python-qt

Workaround found :) First I make it full-screen with F11. Then back
again and now it's behind my top/bottom panels. Now I can grab the
resize and actually resize it. When I maximize it again after this it's
back to normal.

Since yesterdays updates all apps of the openoffice suite fail to start.
Eg, when starting oowriter the screen is partly drawn before it stalls
(I see some of the icons) . No CPU usage. Last time I worked on a

The packaged version of madman is fairly old. I had this problem year
or two ago, issue was resolved by downloading source from git repository
and compiling. It's a pain getting madman working in Hardy without XMMS
being in repositories and Pulseaudio issues but I was able to get it
working.

Here is the scenario that in most cases reveals the issue on my desktop, but
not in 100% cases. I login (my login is a member of admin group if this
matters), do something. Then I switch user and login under some regular user
account. Use the desktop for a while. The do log
I installed the 2.6.24-19 kernel via apt-get. The new r8169.ko doesn't
oops out anymore. Nevertheless the network adapter is still not usable,
since the network packages seem to get "lost" somewhere on the way from
the interface to the hardware and/or back.

while I visit the following page http://www.computerwoche.de the temperatur of
the CPU increase until it reach 65 Celsius degree.
After I leave the page the fan slow down and the temperature decrease. I am

Did you install the prism extention from the repos or from elsewhere?
You can check using 'apt-cache policy prism'. The command to install it
will be 'sudo apt-get install prism'

No question this is a bug, one that should be addressed as urgent if not
critical. Creation and modification dates, and other attributes have
always been preserved in Linux copy and move, and to state otherwise is
ridiculous. Changing this behavior is disasterous, and it did change
from 7.10 to 8

Actually, sorry, I missed one thing in that last altered list. My script
didn't check dependencies of dependencies of dependencies, so I missed
that language-selector-qt depends on Adept. This version just has that
changed to language-selector and synaptic added in.

I am the original submitter of this bug. For months, I avoided
hibernating on this laptop.
After seeing messages about IOMMU=soft, I verified that I also have
messages about IOMMU in my dmesg.
I then added iommu=soft to kopt setting in /boot/grub/menu.lst and reran
update-grub.

Hi. Here's the files you asked for (I only edited the i386 dependencies
from the source package, as I figured that should suffice). I actually
wasn't able to test this, unfortunately, but I didn't do anything major.
Just used a small BASH script I wrote to grab all the dependencies of
