Gutsy was really stable, never had a problem for the longest time. When
I upgraded to Hardy I started getting random lockups that require
hardware reboot. The lockups happen completely at random, usually

Well I have just upgraded to kubuntu Hardy which has the fully fledged firefox3
packages.
FF3 starts in offline mode for me when connected via a speedtouch usb modem. I
connect to it using pon/poff as NM does not recognize any modem is plugged in.
Habitually I have always closed the NM applet

I agree, this is not a duplicate. Although the stack trace is similar,
that bug dies in the assert() showing an invalid sockbuf while this one
gets past there and dies in the write somewhere. Plus, this appears to
be failing with a SIGPIPE, which means some kind of unexpected pipe
failure. I
Setting problem as confirmed as there is a fix and using the method
sorted the problem out - I hope however that someone fixes this pretty
soon as I believe it can have a serious backlash on linux uptake.
Problems like this can overshadow the user experience for novice users.

As upstream development kindly indicated, this is considered a feature of
commandline programs to be silent on success. Also a way to regain the old

So i tried everything but a reboot and after the bug report decided that
should be next...so i rebooted and it worked. Thought that was just a
microsoft fix... heh.
So looks like it was more of a problem with hardy then rhythmbox.

as the link specified. Does this mean the built-in crash reporting tools
aren't even giving you what you need?

Did you try the other treads - A whole bunch on wireless problems in
connection with upgrades. For me plugging into the wire, ticking off the
use restricted drivers in the Restricted Drivers Management Gui found
under Administration did the trick - Asked to download the driver
suggested.
