well, a quick google gets me to the HAL quirks site... but it's got
nothing for audio, and all the quirks (i'm pretty sure) are configurable
in /etc/defaults/acpi-support, which I already customized all the
options to get it to suspend and resume at all. But for completeness

Did you rebuild your proprietary driver when you upgraded the kernel?
Whenever you upgrade the kernel you have to rebuild those drivers. You
can use module-assistant for this. What version of the NVIDIA drivers
are you using? I thought the GeForce4 used nvidia-legacy-glx instead of
nvidia-glx.

can reproduce it across all sorts of different hardware with the same
system image. If not the same bug, a similar bug occurs with Compiz
turned off. Try creating a table in the middle of an email, moving the

Please suggests for gdebi. It's not generally needed and so doesn't
really fit recommends. Also it's rude to re-install it if people have
removed it. Finally it should probably be gdebi | gdebi-kde.
