When the freeze happens it locks up the whole system, including all

Hi Mackenzie,
Problem solved!
Add and remove programs didn't have it listed. I went to several sites
to down load the flash tar zip file for the flash plug in. I don't know
what I did but synaptic found one of the unzipped files and installed it
correctly it must be magic.

I do confirm that this does occur with the following line alone:
\usepackage[utf8x]{inputenc}
The reason for this is the option class that occurs for the package
inputenc. This has nothing to do with converting LyX files, rather it
has to do with the conflict in options: latin9 from LyX and utf8x

I could never find out what used the memory.

I also think is somehow related to CPU and disk usage. When I'm using
CPU and/or disk intensive applications, the skipping seems more

I have upgraded a couple of Gutsy systems 2 weeks ago now. Since the
upgrade it's not possible to shutdown any of the systems with the menu
command
System -> Shut Down... -> Shut down
I'm expecting the system to shutdown.
I'm keeping the systems updated daily.

I'm experiencing the same problem on 2.6.22-14-server, also running gutsy, any
updates?
The 4 machines are Xeon quadcore X5460 with 8GB or ram on a 32bit install

Anyway to see what's using up that low memory?
