I hat the Problem in Alpha 6 only with a damaged CD image. Burning the
image on a new DVD-RW solved the problem. So I suppose it is not
(anymore) a bug, and we can mark this as solved or invalid or whatever.

telling me to run sudo apt-get update followed by sudo apt-get install
-f. This has fixed it. But since the update manager is supposed to be
doing basically the same as these commands, I don't quite understand why

I just tested an Alpha 6 live CD and, without installing anything,
volume, numbers (anything non TV-specific) on the remote works

I'm currently using Vista because of this.
Under Ubuntu the fan is always blasting with hot air. After about 10-20
minutes of usage under Hardy (usage = internet browsing), it will be
around 70 degrees celsius, more if flash or java are being used. Under
Vista, the temperature
Open totem or vlc via terminal and play movies. This is a inconvenient
fix to this problem. Hope Ubies will fix it soon.

/etc/init.d/vboxdrv restart fixed the problem for me as well (at least
for this session).
It looks like runlevels 2 3 4 5 to me. I think this is the relevant

I've found that the laptop_panel.brightness_in_hardware key has no effect in
this bug.
