there is a problem typing the account information in gdm after following
actions:
- normal booting into gdm
- switching to tty1 with STRG+ALT+F1
- login as any user and logout with "exit" which results in automat
That actually looks fine then? It seems that jockey actually enabled the
package and the xorg.conf changes. Does it show anything weird/wrong
after enablng?
Please keep in mind that versions 71 and 96 do not actually *work* in
Intrepid, they'll just crash X and fall back to some safe defaults (see
Thomas, on the money. This is of course more handwaving.
The solution should be rather straight-forward and require only a few
minutes' work: export to mealmaster from the old version and import that
into the new, then some clean-up. Exporting to that proprietary web app
is likely going to take

Now, each time you launch gdmsetup, it will add 3 empty line more into
/etc/gdm/gdm.conf-custom beetween current GraphicalTheme directive and

I can confirm this bug with Kile 2.0.0 on Ubuntu 8.04. Opening this minimal
example causes Kile to close immediately.. Even if Ubuntu 8.10 should be using
Kile 2.0.1 it should be considered to use this update with 8.04 LTS too, it
provides some fixes, see changelog.

On a asus pundit barebones pc with unichrome video.
Ubuntu logo shows fine, system boots to X, shows cursor. Cursor changes
to waiting cursor and system locks up. CTRL-ALT-F1 etc. do nothing.
Same on live cd.

as of this morning's updates, a login sound can be heard (which sounds
like Windows by the way, it's awful).
But still no sound on logout.
Furthermore, the sound cannot be previewed anymore in gnome-sound-properties.
There is also an error while "testing" the sound server in the devices tab.
