For me, changing the settings with kernel 2.6.27-7-generic has no effect
- the 'echo' to /sys/devices/platform/tc1100-wmi/jogdial or /wireless
works, but 'cat' reveals no change (the values are always 0), wireless
stays on, brightness stays un-adjustable.

Indeed ignoring the TV output fixes this on my computer - this laptop
(T4210) doesn't have a TV output.
I think drivers shouldn't be disabling active outputs in order to probe
something - and KDE's XRANDR display change stuff seems to do just that.

Probably not. The fixes were made to a component that didn't exist back in
KDE3. :(
You could always install dolphin-kde4 from the Kubuntu KDE4 ppa for use in
Hardy. That way you don't have to install all of KDE4 and you don't have to
upgrade to Intrepid.

create a new rule for konsole new->detect press on konsole window
then change the size in geometry tab: apply initially to

Ok, let me put it this way. Do you really expect that playing Quake is
not going to raise the wakeup time? Desktop effects are basically the
same, just less wakeupish.
And I also have an intel chip.

It won't be synced to Hardy as well.
However, if the bug fix is important enough the fix can be backported
to the stable version.
