i had this problem too.
my status:
- dont have network manager installed.
- /etc/network/interfaces doesnt have an auto wlan0 entry
- im not applying the fix everyones using here (adding to alsa-utils the ifdown
command)
the problem has gone away.

Couldn't this be fixed by automaticly running nvidia-xconfig when
installing the restricted drivers? Mooglinux is right about the nvidia-
settings need to be ran in root. You can't save xorg.conf otherwise, new
people probably wouldn't understand why.

No problem connecting with ipv4 here, even though my netstat -tlp looks similar.
A bigger problem for me is when I'm only reachable via ipv6 and the host isn't
listed in dns I can't connect with vinagre which doesn't accept raw ipv6 host
addresses. (Or am I just wrong in the ipv6 notation?)

It also happens on many systems like Windows, because the writing
software can autochange the capslocking just as chaanakya said. It's a
bug that the light doesn't change, but the changing behaiviour is not a
bug.
Just type something with the caps lock light off (but on caps) with

No changes after moving to Ubuntu 8.10: CD/DVD drive is missing. I wish

There are some issues with an Enterprise WPA system testing with. Can
this have something to do with the driver?
The notebook loses the connection to the WPA system frequently.
