The memory leak occurs when the file attempted to be thumbnailed.

Once the mirrors had been updated my install of nvidia-glx-96 and configuration
was relatively painless.
The configuration had changed a lot since I last had to do an xorg.conf

I have the same problem, my network printer (Xereox Phaser 8400) stopped
working after updating to 8.10 : after an attempted printing, I get the
stopped message.
the problem is probably due to some filters : I can use lp from command line
and send pdf or text files to the printer and it works

I was having this same problem on my Asus M70. It would hang and beep
incesently right after I saw it begin to enumerate over the USB ports;
incidentily this is also right before the ubuntu loading screen is
presented (which appears to be the actual cause of the problem).

After adding initrd entries to menu.lst - which have been there for all old
hardy kernel entries but none of the initrepid kernels - booting is fine again.
Although update-grub has been run several times before, e.g. when reinstallting
kernels, it did not change menu.lst accordingly. Now back in
Public bug reported:
On ubuntu 8.04 386 my laserjet work as usual. On amd64 version it not work.
The bug is very simple. On the first release of 8.04 386 there was some USB
problem, solved, that don't show /dev/usblp0 and the printer don't print. On
386 version this bug is resolved, on amd64
