I updated the libraw1394 package to 2.0.1, see LP: #311804 (I blame
Launchpad for the triplicate post in that bug). Using the libffado2
packages from the ubuntustudio-dev PPA I can start the ffado-dbus-server

i just did all the latest updates to hardy, and i'm still getting this problem.
matter of fact, its worse now. it doesn't even connect w/o telling me...it

Tried the 1/16 jaunty live cd. After a minute or two of the Ubuntu
loading image, I get a screen of pixel-thin vertical stripes of various
colors--like a pastel plaid but only vertical. And it freezes on that
screen and won't progress--no disk activity, nothing.

I have added screenshots for different themes. *-good shows the actual
theme, *-broken shows the desktop after one cycle of closing and opening
the lid.
I have now made the observation that the theme change happens when
opening the lid, not when closing the lid.

I have now confirmed, to my satisfaction, that it has equivalent
functionality.
Add all initiation requisites to the cycling commands. It may not be
the most elegant possible solution, but it's good enough and not worth
filing a bug over.

I also have exactly the same bug in Intrepid amd64 when using swapfile
instead of swap partition.
Unfortunately, swap file is the only option to use on a tripple-boot
MacBook/Pro (Ubuntu, Mac OSX, WinXP). Long story short, individual
limitations of GRUB, Mac OSX, WinXP and EFI conspire against

uninstall script that means I need to switch back to grub 1 whenever I
need to remove an old kernel. Also, the reason I needed to uninstall
the old kernel was because the update-grub script was building
