I have this issue as well. I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 intrepid, up to date as
of today, with a custom kernel 2.6.27-8-eeepc, on a eee pc 701 and 2GB
RAM (memtest says it's fine). This hardware performed fine with the
below sites in Xandros stock distro that came with my eee pc when it had
512MB RAM.

Ah yes I see it too. It would be good to forward this upstream, noting
that the Rating stars in the notification area menu as well as the Edit

Use the contact user feature on the owner of the PPA's profile to email

The problem you describe is essentially the exact problem that is being
discussed here. I did not know it had such wide-reaching implications.
As a workaround, I suggest you try to get a hold of python 2.5 (from
Intrepid if necessary) and then prevent an upgra
