Actually, the default value of ::1 might just depend on whatever you use
Ubiquity or the Debian Installer.
First of all I downloaded a fresh ubuntu-8.10-server-i386.iso, and followed the
"Default install" instructions from

Running on Kubuntu Jaunty Beta up to date.
Machine locks up randomly, though it appears to do so often when I'm
using Gimp heavily. Lock up makes everything un responsive except I am
able to move cursor. Lock up requires full manual shutdown of machine.

I found something very strange with mount command :
While ubiquity was copying files on the target, only sda10 was mount, whereas
when the bug occured, there was more partitions:
/dev/sda10 on /target type ext4 (rw,relatime,errors=remount-ro)
/dev/sda5 on /target type ext3 (rw)
/dev/sda7 on /targ
Tested with today's updates (gvfs 1.2.1-0ubuntu1) and the problem persists. To
test, I mounted various cifs shares and a ssh share, put the laptop to suspend,
plugged out the cable, resumed, and after inserting the password to unlock gdm,
the usual symptoms were noticable, namely

I've had the same problem using Jaunty Ubuntu Beta (not Kubuntu):
When it asks me to report the error automatically and I comply, it then

Running any recent version of pidgin, for example 2.5.5 crashes almost
instantly when starting an IM in the clearlooks theme. If I change the
theme from clearlooks to human, say, this problem goes away.

Ignore my assertion in comment #64, about not seeing the printer anymore
(I installed only the cups package from the PPA, forgot the libcups
one).
With both packages, I saw the printer, and the behaviour changed: now it
gets stuck trying to print: I send a test page to print, it's never
printed, b
It still hapens, even after an upgrade to KDE 4.2.2. Contrary to my
prevoius note, operations using CTR+(a key) on larger (approx. > 5)
bookmarks couse the error.

This bug with blender is only in window mode, in full screen mode,

This is still broken in Hardy Heron.
We recently upgraded to Hardy Heron (=8.04 LTS), and now vncserver dies,
logging "Couldn't open RGB_DB '/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/rgb'". This is NOT

modem. I am using ubuntu 8.10 on all my three computers with great
satisfaction 99.9% of the time; nigtmares with XP and Vista are over!!!.
