Emilio: I will try that, but on taking another look, I may have been
overhasty in thinking this was the same bug. The other bug I was
looking at affects K3B as well, but IIRC brasero aborts early, and turns
DVD-R's into coasters.

On my Thinkpad R30 I can mute with the mute hotkey, unmute with either
volume up/down hotkeys. However I cannot change the volume with these
keys or have the mute state reflected by the volume control widget.

Just attempted sudopod's fix on an Intrepid system. After restarting
gdm and logging in via NX Nomachine the "unlock" button in the "Users
Settings" applet is now available. Upon clicking it, I get an error
message that says "Could not authenticate - An unexpected error has

Same bug here after upgrading Gutsy to Jaunty. The mouse clicks are
disabled and nothing can be clicked. What it's strange is that the
scroll button continues to work: I can scroll a page in firefox but
cannot click anything. The only way to solve this is to reboot the

I have an Everex VA1500V
When I bought it, the speakers and the headphone jack worked.
I attempted to upgrade to Ubuntu 8.10 and all sorts of stuff broke
including the headphone jack.
Everex told me they don't support 8.10 and that I should download the
