I Used Ubuntu Studio for about a year now, never had any problems.

Now here's an interesting thing. I tried a Fedora 11 live CD (the USB
stick had always shown under Fedora 10), and couldn't mount the stick.

I just subscribed this bug as I started seeing this behaviour with 2.6.30-rc6
on my aspire one. First it was the 0 length files after a crash (the latest
intel drivers still hang sometimes at suspend/resume or at logout/shutdown, and
only the magic REISUB gets you out of it), and once I saw my /
/usr/bin/mozilla-thunderbird has been added in Jaunty and on, if you
need this backported to hardy, you can click the Nominate for Release
button to request it

Apparently, it is possible to use iwconfig again in Jaunty to activate
the power saving mode of the iwl4965:
sudo iwconfig wlan0 power on
This command permanently changes the power level to 3:

The X server was eating around 500MB, almost half my system memory. I
was able to reduce that by about half by killing and restarting firefox,
killing okular, killing oocalc, changing system -> preferences ->

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0
Clicking on firefox taskbar tab causes the screen to go black
momentarily, then ubuntu auto logs off.
This has occurred twice.
This is not the same problem that others have reported of this behaviour
occurring when a tab is changed or a link

I'm attaching the files as requested. When I booted up just now I had
to go to recovery mode, where I chose the option to try to fix graphical
problems and continue booting, so this xorg.conf file is freshly
generated. The system's efforts to fix the problem were only partially
