Hi all. I've been having the error -110 problem in Ubuntu Jaunty when
using a CoolerMaster Xcraft 360 caddy with a standard SATA drive in it.
If I boot into Ubuntu and try to mount the drive, I can't. I get a
series of USB errors followed by the -110 error, as shown here.

I think I am having a related problem as well with the same setup: one
desktop over another. I have attached a screen shot. In my case, the
lower portion of applications is hidden behind the lower gnome panel.

I recommend switching to a desktop manager which is capable of changing
permissions properly such as KDE.
I fully agree that it is ridiculous that this simple bug has been left unfixed
for so long!

Today, after resuming from hibernate, my USB devices were not working.
Unplugging/plugging showed this in the syslog:

I can confirm this bug still exists in kubuntu 9.04 kde version
4:4.2.3-0, qt4 version 4.5.0. When printing from kate the top margin or
paper size is set incorrectly and the page header is cut off.
This applies to both HP inkjet printers and Xerox laser printers (and
probably any other printer).

Hardy is LTS, and we are just planning and upgrade from Dapper to Hardy
on our servers.
Proftpd (among other problems) is causing issues for our customers!
This same bug was fixed for vsftpd and backported to hardy. See bug

Which led me to looking at my /etc/X11/xorg.conf file. It was mostly
empty, so I added in the following lines, as indicated in the link
