up on the grub loading message. This meant I had to tune down to IDE

please find the error message above. Since I updated (sudo apt-get update
upgrade) my Ubuntu 9.04 on an Acer 6000 TravelMate laptop cca. two weeks ago.
I cannot boot the system, not even from a live CD. In the machine's setup there
is no possibility to control
and it doesn't works with any old kernel
