Proxy-aware applications like Synaptic use it, update-manager does not.

I attempted to run Update Manager, which failed and locked up the system
(i.e. - no response to the mouse, keyboard, and even ctrl/alt/delete

Same for me. I believe the problem lies in the wrong calculation of the
virtual desktop-size.
I got two 1280x1024-Monitors, and in xorg.conf the follwoing parameter is set:
"Virtual2048 2048"
It should be:
"Virtual 2560 2048"
If i change it manually, it works immediately.

Macbook 4,1 here. Brightness keys still don't work, while e.g. Volume
keys do work. Using xev, I get KeymapNotify events pressing Brightness
keys, but don't get KeyPress/KeyRelease events (neither with the Volume
keys).

Had the same problem on my Lenovo 300 C200. Curiously I can add the
Broadcom BCM 4311 wifi driver from the live CD
(System/Administration/Hardware Drivers) but when I installed the beta,
the option to add this driver doesnt exist. i.e.

Upon updating to Karmic Beta, Rhythmbox has each FLAC file listed twice
in my library. MP3 files are listed only once. When I remove the
duplicate entries from Rhythmbox, the next library scan adds them back.

all the way down. There you'll find a download link for the karmic
package which you can download and install via
sudo dpkg -i trac_0.11.5-2ubuntu1_all.deb

mplayer can freeze whole system, crash itself or compiz when user toggles movie
to full screen.

You have already write permissions, but make sure that *ALL* changes
do not break anything.
